THE CULTURAL COMPLEX DAAGBO HOUNON

This vernacular houses the cultural complex DAAGBO HOUNON (Supreme Head of Vodoun in Ouidah). Her manager directs the larger cultural and religious ceremonies in the city. These include HOUGOZIN is devoted to the deity of the sea and is carried by a procession of followers of various convents for jars to collect the water of libation in the sacred pond HOUNTONOU or gloves. Formerly held every 7 years HOUTAYIYI is a rite in which DAAGBO HOUNON went in procession to the sea with divinities ADANTOHOU sacred objects, and AGBE AVREKETE to perform sacrifices and libations.

THE TEMPLE AND CONVENT MAHOU ADIMOULA

The cult Lissa was installed in the kingdom of Dahomey during the reign of King Agadja (1711 - 1742). This god gives life and is considered the mother of mankind. There are two types: smoothness Djenan with headquarters located in the palace of Abomey NANY HOUANDJLE, the queen mother Tegbessou (1742 - 1774) and smoothness YALODE what a purely practical YORUBA.
MAHOU ADIMOULA temples is part of the junction of Djenan. Its priests receive their crown under the oversight of Abomey with whom they have intimate relations. Periodic ritual ceremonies are held in this temple.

Agadja-Legba Ouidah

Legba maintains public order, protects, gives and receives in return for service offerings. This deity is worshiped in all religions of Dahomey. We even distinguish several types: FA-FA belonging to Legba, Legba TO-belonging to a village or neighborhood, Houn-Legba for a temple, etc..
There are two Agadja-Legba Agadja the King (1711 - 1742) erected on the territory of the ancient kingdom of SAVI to conquer when he finished in 1727. Here he planted the divinity reserved OUIDAH to materialize the domination of Dahomey in the city. Today, Agadja-Legba remains helpful to all those who crave.

TEMPLE DAGOUN

DAN (God the giver of wealth) is one of the greatest deities of the pantheon of Dahomey. Venerated in most cults, it renders a service and receives in return for offerings. It even distinguishes several types: GLA-DAN-DAN HENNOU, etc..
DAGOUN DAN is a deity who would mystically granted and maintained the wealth of Francisco Felix de Souza said CHACHA. To celebrate the religious traditions of the Brazilian brides who settled in Ouidah to the early nineteenth century, various deities are associated with DAGOUN. His priest assures the rites and ceremonies of purification and maintains the temple devotees.

TEMPLE AND CONVENT OF OBA YALODE YOMI

Lissa worship which was installed during the reign of King Agadja (1711 - 1742) is one of the greatest of Dahomey. This god gives life and is considered the mother of mankind. Before settling in Ouidah in the reign of BEHANZIN (1889 - 1894), OBA YOMI domiciliation Abomey as a captive of war, consultant and fan of FA YALODE that King Guezo (1818 - 1858) brought from OYO (NIGERIA). He developed the cult at Whydah and ritual ceremonies are held regularly here in his temple.

THE TEMPLE AND CONVENT OF ZOMADONOU HEHOUNLI

ZOMADONOU embodies the spirits of the deformed children of the royal family of Dahomey. These children serve as intermediaries between the visible and the invisible. That justifies the worship that they are dedicated since the reign of King Tegbessou (1742 - 1774)
The temple and monastery ZOMADONOU was installed by King Tegbessou materialize for domination of the royal power of Dahomey in the town of Ouidah. During the slave trade, slaves for sale here which stopped offering a mixture of beans, corn and cowries were made to the deity to seek his blessing to the sale goes smoothly. Today ceremonies are conducted regularly here in honor of the deified spirits of children

Guezo Legba Ouidah

King Guezo (818 - 1858) erected here Guezo-Legba one hand to strengthen the religious domination of the ancient kingdom of Dahomey SAVI and to allow other FON packages installed in this area continue to practice this religion very widespread in Abomey.

KPASSEZOUN: The Sacred forest

This forest was sacred in the late seventeenth century by Kpassè (third king of SAVI). It features many trees including the one that materializes deified king Kpassè deified. In 1920, the colonial army captain, Jean ADJOVI, built a building in the middle of the clearing because of the importance of this forest community and especially community Hwedie ADJOVI. Two major ceremonies take place periodically. This is a part of Gozin respect all people and lasts about ten days. On the other hand, the enthronement of the head of the community ADJOVI held there.

DANGBEHOUE :THE TEMPLE OF PYTHONS

The python is the totem animal of Hwedie veneration and profit from the fourteenth century. The first temple of pythons have been erected in SAVI and had suffered several moves before being finally determined by DANGBEHOUE. Periodic ritual ceremonies are held in this temple and all relics of a sacred forest by families Hwedie: ADJOVI, Agbo, ZOSSOUNGBO, ATAKPALOKO, etc.. And every seven years, a procession takes place here during Dangbe-Gozen what a cleansing ceremony led by DANGBENON (the head temple of pythons).
